The cradle remains the same…

Notice anything different about the 2 pictures above?  If you’re looking at the cradle, then nothing is different.  This is the exact cradle that Jen’s uncle Jack Bechdel made for her 31 years ago.  The picture on the left is Jennifer sleeping in it back in 1976, the one on the right is Piper sleeping in it last night.  On a side note, you’ll notice Jen is sleeping on her stomach and Piper on her back.  Unfortunately we’re not allowed to let them sleep face down any more, but they do sleep so well that way. The cradle is the perfect addition to our bedroom for her (Piper, not Jen anymore) to sleep in.  Not to mention it’s in such great shape that there’s no reason it won’t last another generation.  Thank you Uncle Jack!

Today, we spent the afternoon hanging out with Grandma at her apartment.  Getting out of the house was a nice change of scenery.  Piper seems to like this idea of going to “Grandmother’s house” so we’re wondering what’s going to happen when she gets a bit older.  As they say, what happens at grandma’s stays at grandma’s.

  1. The cradle is awesome! What a lovely heirloom. Piper is thriving! You all are doing such a great job. I know that Grandma’s influence has had a lot to do with that. If we can see how much Piper has grown from photos, then when Grandpa Ed returns, he will really notice a difference! Thanks for sharing with us all. We are so happy for you all!

  2. Dave, Jen and Piper,
I’m so happy that you’re able to use the cradle.  The fact that Grandma and Grandpa Snitger worked hard to figure out how to get it there meant a lot, but seeing Piper sleeping in the same cradle that her Mommy slept in, will be special for both of them for many years.  As you know, when I made the cradle, I wanted it to be big enough that the baby would be able to use it for more than a few weeks, so, Piper, relax and enjoy your sleep. And thanks for the kind words.
    Love ya,
    Uncle Jack

  3. How special it is that you are able to use Jen’s cradle for Piper and I will really be interested in hearing how you got it to California.  I bet that was an experience.  I cannot believe how much Piper has changed in just 2 weeks.  What an absolutely gorgeous daughter you have!!!  I do have one question though, how come we haven’t seen any pictures of Grandma Snitger lately?  Come on Jeannie, we need to see your smiling face with your granddaughter.  Love this blog!!!!
