We took a drive out to visit with Gale and Tom in Basalt.  The drive over was so pretty with the leaves turning. The drive up over Independence Pass was just gorgeous with all the Aspen Trees turning colors The beautiful Maroon Bells

 We drove up to Echo and Summit Lake to see see the Aspens turning colors.  It was just the start but very beautiful.  We also saw some snow at Summit Lake which is at 13,000 feet.  Summit Lake

We spent the afternoon up in Estes Park enjoying all the sights.  We had lunch by the lake, strolled the downtown and had pie.  The highlight of the trip was watching the Elk wonder around the golf course.  Apparently they are there everyday.  They groundsmen herd them around so the golfers can keep golfing. The male of this group of females had the biggest rack we had ever seen.  What a treat!  Gorgeous views!  This male got chased into the pond.

Today was the last day to swim at the pools.  Each pool ends the summer with a D.J.  It’s a lot of fun! Looks like summer is officially over.

Piper and our neighbor Bela started a bookclub together.  They are currently reading The Unwanteds.
