12 Month Doctor Check-up

Piper had a great visit with the doctor today who was very pleased with her progress and said she looked wonderful.  Piper now weighs 20 lbs 4 oz and is 28 1/2 inches long.  This keeps her in the 50% which is where she’s been all along.  The poor girl had to get 3 shots, the most she’s ever had at one time.

Then last Friday we had to have her tested for lead since we live in an old house.  We thought it would be a simple pinprick but they actually took a tube of blood out.  She was strapped down in a mini-stretcher with just her arms out.  It was very hard to watch.  What an awful couple of days for her.

Since Piper turned one, she’s kept us very busy so we haven’t been able to update the blog daily.  We will continue to post photos and entries as often as we can.  Also, we are moving her baby site to a new location with some security.  (You can never be too careful nowadays)  Once we are up and running, we’ll send an email out.

Busy Baby

It’s hard to get Piper to pose for a photo anymore because she is so busy and is focused on the task at hand.  She definitely keeps us on our toes.

Happy Birthday Piper Grace!

Hard to believe one year ago today our little baby came into this world.  It’s been amazing watching her grow from the tiny 6 pound girl we brought home from the hospital who changed our lives.  So much that we almost can’t remember a time without her.  Every day seems to get better and better!

Piper had a great day and spent the afternoon exploring the Huntington Gardens.  Grandma and Grandpa S. said ‘hi’ over the computer which was a treat.  Then she had a little cupcake with a pink P on it before going to out to eat with mom and dad.

Thanks to everyone for making Piper’s first birthday so special.  Also, we would like to everyone for the wonderful thoughtful comments on the blog.  They’ve helped us get through the good and tough times as she grew.  It’s been fun to share each day during Piper’s first year.

Touchdown!

We’ve been trying to teach Piper how to do touchdown just in time for the football season.  This will make her Grandpa proud!

Piper now gets upset when mommy leaves in the morning.  This started last week and we hoped it was just because of all our travels.  She cried again today which just breaks mommy’s heart.  Hopefully this phase won’t last too long…

First Day of Autumn

Piper spent a beautiful cool Fall morning at Ben’s house.  They were busy bees inside and out.  It’s  interesting to see how different their personalities are.

The rest of the day was filled with running errands, naps, playtime and a nice long walk.
