Chilly night = warm fire

Piper got to experience her first remedy for a chilly night, a nice warm wood burning fire.  Kitty also was a bit cool today and nestled up on mom’s lap with Piper.  Only problem is she’s not exactly the petite cat she thinks she is.  None the less, all parties involved found comfort in a nice chair with mom.

During the day, Piper got to walk all around the Huntington in her sling with mom.  She grunted and snored but loved all the walking and moving.  At the end of it all she was hungry and ready for a nice big meal.

Tomorrow, another Steelers game and yes, we promise this time it’s really on a Sunday!  She knows all about the history between Pittsburgh and Cleveland.

Go Steelers!

Early to rise, early to bed

Not sure if we’re just getting use to the whole time change this week or what but seems like she likes getting up early and going to bed a little earlier.  Of course, this makes for a nice resting schedule for mom & dad so we’re trying to encourage it as much as possible.  Piper also is getting use to her sling with mommy.  She had lots of sling time and got to hang off mom today.

Fun things planned for the weekend include visiting the Huntington for a stroll around the gardens and then a little more exploring around the neighborhood!  Who knows?  We might get home to a chilly night and have to make a little fire to warm up.  Something about those cool nights that is suddenly cured by a warm cup of chocolate and a flannel blanket.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and as fun things planned.

What a week

Piper and Mom had an amazing week of discovery together so far.  They got into a nice groove between the feeding, the burping, the walking and the rest.. ahhh yes, the rest!  Favorite part the day is when Jen sneaks in a nap with Piper.  But as it goes, she ends up spending more time looking at Piper’s adorable face than actual sleeping.  The walks around the neighborhood between the feeding and rest really make for well rounded days.  Even though today was a bit gloomy and cool, it was still nice to get out and get some fresh air.

We’re glad the weekend is finally here. So even though it might be a little cool and on the gloomy side, inside will be nothing but be nothing but warm, sunshine, and smiles.  This little girl can really brighten up any dark day!  Just to add to the cuteness idea, we’re only showing pictures of her sleeping so you get the right image.

It’s the Piper show!

Piper discovered that she had a lot of excess air that is adding to her unusual fussiness.  More importantly mommy had a friend stop by who showed Piper & mom how to get rid of this uncomfortable air.  After a good “air letting” Piper slept soundly like never before.  Hopefully this is the beginning of much happier sleep for all around.

Reaching out to more relatives has never been so easy!  We tried reaching out to Uncle Jack this evening but Piper slept through her introduction.  Let’s hope we can coordinate her awake time soon so she can put on a good performance for the camera!

New friends!

Well first off, Piper (and mom & dad) welcome some new friends today starting with her new cousin Ethan Randall Deelo in St. Louis, congrats to Randy & Caryl Lynn.  Then locally here in LA, Gerard and Inness (pictured here on October 7th’s blog posting) had their little girl Talulah Simone Whitefield Shadrick, congrats as well.  All moms and babies are recovering well and Piper is looking forward to her new friends!

Piper was very active today and went for walks around the house and neighborhood.  She just loves being in the sling with her mom!  A little fussiness that may have set in as a result of the immunizations (we like to think that’s the cause) but nothing a little walking and feeding couldn’t take care of.  Jen also witnessed what she thinks was her first ‘social’ smile from Piper.  Too bad we didn’t get any images of it, but we’re sure there will be more to come.
