35 Weeks

I’m starting into my 35th week today with only 5 more to go if everything stays on track.  The baby should weigh about 5 pounds and I can tell he/she is running out of room since the movements are much stronger than before.  Overall things are feeling pretty good but it’s becoming harder to do things like putting on socks and tying shoes.

We had another Lamaze class this week.  The classes are very informative on what to expect not only in labor but also at the hospital.  The instructor covered what is standard and what is offered by Huntington Hospital & staff. This week we had to pack a bag including a list of items that we would need for the stay at the hospital. These items include cotton socks, notepad with pen, stopwatch, mouthwash, tennis balls, music, camera and a focal point for which I chose a small souvenir of the Eiffel Tower (ahh.. Paris…). We watched a few videos (nothing visually difficult thank goodness) then practiced some relaxation & breathing techniques. All in all, I have lots to read and research over the coming weeks. Homework this week includes practicing relaxation (doesn’t sound so bad) and Dave has to identify and relax the tense areas. Some of these are just like you see on TV or read about, but overall I hope this will reduce some of the anxiety and confusion when it comes time.

Next week, a tour of the Labor, Deliver and Recovery (LDR) ward of the hospital. They take you through what to do when you arrive, I’m looking forward to that.
